| Indeed , as we know , many of the Gaelic speakers were driven out during the horrible period of the Highland Clearances.In these circumstances it is a matter for rejoicing that the annual National Gaelic Mod will take place for the one hundredth time in the town of Oban this year. I am very glad to have a constituency office there.It is a great tragedy that the languages of Duncan Ban MacIntyre and Robert Burns have become more or less foreign languages to the children of Argyllshire and Ayrshire respectively , and other parts of Scotland | Und wie wir wissen , wurden während der grausamen Zeit der Highland Clearances in der Tat viele Gälisch sprechende Bewohner vertrieben.Unter diesen Umständen ist es ein Anlass zur Freude , dass das jährliche National Gaelic Mod in diesem Jahr zum hundertsten Mal in der Stadt Oban stattfinden wird.
