| Second topic : there is a positive spirit at present , and this must continue. We must not believe that enlargement will be without its problems , and we cannot expect enlargement to be nice and easy. It will have its shortcomings ; there will be untidiness and incoherence ; there will be lengthy transitional arrangements ; and there will be no thorough agricultural reform and no complete structural reform. I am not saying that we must accept everything. I believe , however , that we must contrive to show magnanimity and that we are obliged to accept that enlargement will be messy and untidy. Naturally , we must comply with the Copenhagen criteria , but we must count on enlargement s not being as seamless as we perhaps might have hoped | Zweites Thema , Herr Präsident. Unsere heutigen Beratungen verlaufen in einem positiven Geist , und dies soll so bleiben. Wir dürfen nicht glauben , dass die Erweiterung ohne Probleme ablaufen wird , und wir können keine perfekte Erweiterung erwarten. Ich will damit nicht sagen , dass wir alles akzeptieren müssen , aber ich meine , dass wir uns daran gewöhnen müssen , großzügig zu sein , und dass wir eine Erweiterung akzeptieren müssen , bei der nicht alles geordnet und reibungslos ablaufen wird. Natürlich müssen wir die Kriterien von Kopenhagen erfüllen , aber wir müssen damit rechnen , dass all dies nicht so glatt und perfekt ablaufen wird , wie wir vielleicht gehofft hatten |
