Mr President , I have to say that what Mr Vattimo said is not a true representation of the facts. The President of this Parliament only stated the outcome of a vote in this House on a European Parliament resolution which called on all the Member States to respect the commitment to equality of school qualifications , i.e. to facilitate scholastic equality. No position was taken : she only spoke of what was happening. However , I think that this attempt to exploit , even in this House , a political battle that the left is fighting in Italy against equality of school qualifications is absurd and not relevant to this Parliament s work. Then , fortunately , the City of Strasbourg provides a service to bring us here , but it consists of a bus which picks up a large number of passengers and we end up wasting a lot of time
Herr Präsident , was Herr Vattimo gesagt hat , entspricht nicht der Wahrheit , weil die Präsidentin unseres Parlaments lediglich eine Feststellung zur Abstimmung über eine Entschließung des Europäischen Parlaments getroffen hat , in der alle Mitgliedstaaten zur Einhaltung der Verpflichtung betreffend die Gleichberechtigung der Schulsysteme und zu deren Förderung aufgefordert werden. Das war keine Stellungnahme : Die Präsidentin hat nur zur Kenntnis genommen , was geschehen war. Ich halte jedenfalls den Versuch , die von den Linken in Italien gegen die Gleichberechtigung der Schulsysteme geführte Debatte auch in diesem Hohen Haus zu instrumentalisieren , für absurd und den Arbeiten dieses Parlaments nicht dienlich. Der Bedarf ist derzeit riesig , und ich wünschte , meine Kolleginnen und Kollegen im Europäischen Parlament würden sich dieser Solidaritätsbewegung , die im Entstehen begriffen ist , anschließen
Madam President , the globalization of trade which raises the level of knowledge , the arrival of the information society which will radically transform the nature of work and the organization of production , together with the acceleration of technical and scientific progress are the scenarios of the future , obliging the Union to reflect now on how it can respond adequately to the new demands of the world of work and education.There are two possible responses on these issues ; upgrading education generally , which is the indispensable basis for acquiring new technological skills and developing student and worker mobility , but above all the implementation of a system which permits any individual to gain access to general education and develop approaches to work by adapting training methods to changes in day - to - day reality , due precisely to the globalization of the economy , the rise of the information society and the development of the scientific and technological society.With the vast mass of messages immediately available in today's information society , teaching cannot remain confined to the scholastic microcosm , but must train the citizens of tomorrow to be able to identify the best strategy for accessing what is most appropriate , useful and relevant in the mass of available information.If we want to exorcise for good the demons that escaped from Pandora's box when technological progress lifted the lid , our training systems must become the mirror of society , reflecting it in their methods and technology.Europe is lagging behind in the information sector and this is a serious obstacle to defining educational policies and approaches that are right for the times. Information is coming as a genuine shock involving change in the very concept of civilization , and that means we will have to change our educational culture.In fact , a veritable metamorphosis is needed if we are to meet the obligation to train young people for the jobs of the future. The technology obliges mankind to think about nature , economic and social problems , management of space and time and the phenomena of decomposition of materials.It will be an imperative to adapt the system to the new demands. The Socratic philosophers themselves , always seeking truth despite their scepticism , would have accepted that education must be adapted to the new needs.This taste for making an effort , for progress in seeking the good , the true and the beautiful , is very much dependent on the richness of interpersonal communication
Ihr Bericht , Frau Morgan , weist eine Fülle von Vorzügen auf , und es wird darin mutig auf einige Gefahren hingewiesen ; gleichzeitig wird gezeigt , welche Möglichkeiten für Bildung und Ausbildung bestehen. Allerdings gibt sich der Bericht meines Erachtens einigen Illusionen hin , was sowohl das Familien - und das Schulleben sowie die Kultur betrifft.Der Grund für die von zahlreichen Jugendlichen in ihrer Familie und in der Gesellschaft erlebte Krise liegt in einer Schwierigkeit der Sprache und des Austausches. Die Beherrschung der Sprache und die Feinheiten bei der Verwendung der Sprache , die dazu dient , sich verständlich zu machen und besser mit anderen zusammenzuleben , hängen vor allem von der gemeinsam erlebten Zeit , davon , wie reich der Austausch zwischen den Personen ist , ab. Die Instrumente , wie sie uns durch die Informationstechnologien geboten werden , sind für Personen geeignet , die bereits eine entsprechende Struktur aufweisen und somit aus dem , was durch die Instrumente zusätzlich geboten wird , Nutzen ziehen werden.Dramatisch wird es , wenn eine solche Struktur auf sprachlicher Ebene , auf der Ebene geistiger Bildung , also auf der Ebene des Urteilens , nicht besteht. In solchen Fällen stellt die Verwendung einer Maschine keine Hilfe dar. Wir haben es unter diesen Umständen mit einer Reihe von Illusionen zu tun. Der Bereich Schule und Kultur ist gleichzeitig der Bereich , in dem Geschmack daran gefunden wird , Anstrengungen zu unternehmen. Wenn also damit der Eindruck entsteht , intellektuelle Arbeit , Bildung sei leicht und in Reichweite , sie bedeute eine Art leichten Konsums , dann handelt es sich hier um eine große Illusion.Ein solches Bestreben , Anstrengungen zu unternehmen , um auf der Suche nach dem Guten , nach dem Wahren , nach dem Schönen , voranzuschreiten , hängt in hohem Maße davon ab , wie reich der Austausch zwischen den Personen ist
