The absence of any precision on the specific names means that the wellfoundedness of this directive is heavily mortgaged. I add that the inapplicable nature of some arrangements makes them null and void before they have even been adopted. And if the Commission had two pennyworth of good sense , it would do as it did twelve years ago , and withdraw its draft. I hope that it will have that good sense. To me there is no harm in that , and the acceptability of Europe requires that we do not try to do away with that tradition
