I hope that they will feel that the proposals I have put forward and the active agreement of several of the Member States , indeed including Sweden , will produce the kind of result that they want of dedicated rail - freight freeways with a sensible system of management and a good system of pricing that really can prove to be commercially attractive to those companies which want to move large amounts of freight to do it dependably and at competitive prices

I should like to respond to the honourable Member , very briefly , by saying that I strongly commend those companies , notably Swedish companies , which have made attempts over the years to develop their own direct links in order to shift freight from road to rail. That is particularly arduous , of course , in the case of Sweden and will continue to be the case until the completion of the Øresund link.I hope that they will feel that the proposals I have put forward and the active agreement of several of the Member States , indeed including Sweden , will produce the kind of result that they want of dedicated rail - freight freeways with a sensible system of management and a good system of pricing that really can prove to be commercially attractive to those companies which want to move large amounts of freight to do it dependably and at competitive prices. If that turns out to be the case , as I am sure it will , the whole of the transport system , and indeed the economies and societies of the European Union , will benefit greatly
Ich möchte den Herrn Abgeordneten kurz darauf antworten. Ich unterstütze diese und insbesondere die schwedischen Unternehmen , die sich in den letzten Jahren darum bemüht haben , ihre eigenen direkten Verbindungen zu entwickeln , um den Gütertransport von der Straße auf die Schiene zu verlegen. Das ist insbesondere in Schweden natürlich ein sehr schwieriges Unterfangen , und das wird auch noch bis zur Vollendung der Verbindung über den Öresund so bleiben.Ich hoffe , daß meine Vorschläge und die aktive Zustimmung einiger Mitgliedstaaten einschließlich Schweden die Resultate erzielen werden , die von gut funktionierenden Schienengütertransportwegen mit einem vernünftigen Management - und Preissystem erwartet werden , und das den Unternehmen mit einem großen Frachtaufkommen , das sie zuverlässig und zu wettbewerbsfähigen Preisen auf die Schiene verlegen wollen , von der Preisgestaltung her attraktiv erscheint. Ich bin sicher , daß in diesem Fall das gesamte Transportsystem und natürlich auch die Wirtschaften und Gesellschaften der Europäischen Union sehr davon profitieren werden. Deshalb konnte das Unternehmen in der jetzigen Situation seine Transporte nicht auf die Schiene verlegen , obwohl es das eigentlich wollte
