I should like to hear from the Commissioner whether that ruling has implications for all the regulated professions. The PPE Group's view is that account must be taken of the special role of certain professions in the general interest of society. We should have liked to know the Commission's thinking on this. I appreciate that I am rather springing this on the Commissioner. I do not necessarily expect an answer here and now , but perhaps a written reply

I had this feeling following the package. We noticed that there were new holes – like those in Emmental cheese – that had been exploited. I sometimes have the feeling that we think we are making progress , but new holes are springing up. I should like us to look at these holes before another disaster occurs. We have tried to do this to some extent in the report , but I think that we are in need of additional expertise in this field.I am glad that you mentioned enlargement and Russia , and I think that this report is a historic one from the point of view of the Baltic Sea
Wir stellten damals fest , dass es neue Schlupflöcher gab - wie Löcher im Emmentaler - die ausgenutzt wurden. Ich habe manchmal den Eindruck , dass wir glauben , vorwärts zu kommen , aber ständig neue Schlupflöcher entstehen.
