| My desire is that this discussion may become a real sign of solidarity and that a disaster fund may come into being , founded in a spirit of solidarity with all regions rather than with only a few of them and including the candidate countries.Both residents and visitors always had a healthy respect for the Elbe. The city has come to terms with the spring floods , but now the newly - emerging plans for the trans - European networks will make it into a basin with fast currents endangering the people on the riverbank. So I call on the Commission to reconsider whether their plans for the development of the Elbe and also of the Danube are still justified in the light of current experience | Anwohner und Besucher hatten immer einen großen Respekt vor der Elbe. Die Stadt hat sich arrangiert , auch mit den Frühjahrshochwassern , aber jetzt kommen die Pläne der transeuropäischen Netze auf , die sie zu einer schnellfließenden Wanne machen , die die Menschen am Fluss in Gefahr bringen. Deshalb fordere ich die Kommission auf zu überdenken , ob die Pläne , die sie für den Ausbau der Elbe und auch für den Ausbau der Donau hat , nach den jetzigen Erfahrungen noch gerechtfertigt sind.Für die Donau gibt es ein Ausbaukonzept , das nachhaltig ist und das die Auenwälder erhält. Die Frage ist jetzt an die Kommission , ob sie nur dieses Konzept finanziert oder ob sie sich auf eine Finanzierung von Staustufen einlässt |
