I was very pleased to hear the upbeat assessment of the informal summit by both the President of the Commission and the President - in - Office of the Council. But I have to say both as a citizen and as a parliamentarian that the discussions so far have seemed to me turgid , unfocused and to show a lack of political will and motivation. That is a great tragedy potentially for the future of our continent
Ich war erfreut , zu hören , wie sowohl von dem Kommissionspräsidenten als auch von dem amtierenden Ratspräsidenten der informelle Gipfel optimistisch beurteilt wurde. Als Bürger und als Abgeordneter muß ich jedoch bemerken , daß mir das , was bisher gesagt wurde , hochtrabend und vage erschien und meines Erachtens zeigte , daß kein politischer Wille und keine Motivation bestehen. Für die Zukunft unseres Kontinents kann dies eine große Tragödie bedeuten
