It is the beginnings of regimentation , a form of concealed totalitarianism , of normalisation as they used to say when communism was at its height , and coming from the Greens that is not surprising.Clearly , it is not enough for the European Parliament that its minorities , especially the non - attached Members , should be victims of outrageous discrimination as regards Parliamentarians’ rights ; we have to go further and punish them , even punish them financially , if the majority considers their behaviour ‘politically incorrect’

There are something like 300 different types of soil. Nevertheless , the European Commission is bent on regimenting soil use right across Europe , and the Committee on the Environment actually wants more regimentation. I support subsidiarity and I oppose over - regulation. That is why I voted against this indigestible and pointless report.In this regard the decision to introduce a definition of contaminated land would seem quite significant , as well as the obligation to draw up national lists of such land by EU countries , which would be made public knowledge and updated every five years

Ich bin für die Subsidiarität und gegen Überregelung. Daher habe ich gegen diesen unverdaulichen und unnützen Bericht gestimmt.In dieser Hinsicht erscheint die Entscheidung , eine Definition für kontaminierte Böden aufzunehmen , erheblich , ebenso wie die Verpflichtung für die EU - Länder , nationale Verzeichnisse geschädigter Böden zu erstellen , die öffentlich zugänglich wären und alle fünf Jahre aktualisiert würden
Their newly won right to deliberate on new laws in elected parliaments is to be transferred to negotiators behind more closed doors in Brussels. Their electors and elected representatives are to surrender power to officials and ministers. Democracy , for them , is to become the exception rather than the rule , as has also happened in our own case.Matters need not reach this pass. We must hope that there are people who dare to say no to the penultimate treaty before the drafting of an actual constitution and who dare to prepare the ground for replacing regimentation and centralism with a Europe of democracies and diversites. Following this criticism , I should just like to commend the Finnish Presidency for having promoted the cause of openness by means of the Presidency s new home pages. These have been very useful , and I hope that the Portuguese Presidency will take its cue from this initiative
Ihre Wähler und Vertreter sollen die Macht an Beamte und Minister abtreten. Ihre Demokratie soll zur Ausnahmesituation werden , wie das bereits bei uns der Fall ist.Herr Präsident , ganz so schlimm muß es nicht werden. Wir hoffen , daß es noch Menschen gibt , die den zweitletzten Vertrag vor dem Grundgesetz ablehnen und die Grundlage dafür schaffen , daß Gleichrichtung und Zentralismus von der Vielfalt der europäischen Demokratien abgelöst werden. Nach dieser Kritik , Herr Präsident , möchte ich jedoch die finnische Präsidentschaft dafür loben , daß sie die Offenheit durch die Einrichtung einer eigenen Homepage gefördert hat. Das hat uns sehr geholfen , und ich hoffe , daß die portugiesische Präsidentschaft diese Praxis weiterführen wird. Sie haben sich selbst das Recht herausgenommen , ohne ein Mandat der UNO oder der OSZE in andere Länder einzufallen
