However , we cannot afford to behave in an erratic , inconsequential and fragmented manner. The USA is such a strong partner that if the European Union cannot speak with one voice - if not a common voice , perhaps a single voice , but at least a coordinated voice - then we will continue to fall behind in the transatlantic partnership

I believe this report will turn out to be a useful tool for identifying EU sectors and regions where workers are needed , and therefore for promoting solvency and better management of training. I would also like to draw attention to what I believe is an important aspect : the content of this report does not represent a greater bureaucratic burden or more inconsequential legislation , since in its current version it avoids the duplication of initiatives and the inclusion of tools already in place

Mr President , ladies and gentlemen , if the Irish referendum is unimportant and inconsequential , why was it held. Why was it decided to offer this opportunity of a plebiscite , as we have heard.It is a serious business when a parliament denies the possibility and the importance of allowing people to express themselves with total freedom , as the Irish people have done. This vote is quite simply a fine tombstone , topped by a Celtic cross , for the prospect of a European superstate which our populations so dislike
Herr Präsident , sehr geehrte Kolleginnen und Kollegen. Wenn das Referendum in Irland so unwichtig und ohne Konsequenzen ist , weshalb fand es dann statt. Wieso wurde die Möglichkeit eines Volksentscheids dann überhaupt beschlossen. So die Fragen , die wir hier hörten.Es ist eine ernste Sache , wenn ein Parlament nicht erkennen will , welche Chance und Bedeutung es hat , wenn ein Volk seine Meinung , so wie in Irland , frei äußern kann. Diese Abstimmung setzt schlicht und einfach einen mit dem keltischen Kreuz verzierten Grabstein auf die Aussichten für einen europäischen Superstaat , den unsere Bevölkerungen gar nicht haben wollen
