Question No 11 by : Subject : Position of the Swedish Presidency on the introduction of a tax on international financial transactions In answer to the questions put to it last month , the Council stated that it had not included the subject of the Tobin tax on the agenda for the ECOFIN Council , even though Mrs Lena Hjelm - Wallén , Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden , had declared on 23 March of this year that she approved of the Tobin tax'.In recent weeks , certain Member States such as Finland have declared their support for a tax of this kind , while a number of members of parliament have issued an international appeal in support of the Tobin tax'
