The Group of the European Liberal Democrat and Reform Party submitted a resolution on Jamaica's pulling out of the optional protocol to the International Convention on Human Rights. If a protocol is optional , the Jamaican government must have thought , then we can leave it voluntarily. This may be right , but the most important thing in this issue is that it gives out the wrong signal
Eine sehr interessante Sache , Herr Präsident : Die Liberalen haben einen Entschließungsantrag zum Austritt Jamaikas aus dem Fakultativprotokoll des Internationalen Pakts über bürgerliche und politische Rechte eingereicht. Wenn ein Protokoll fakultativ ist , dann - so hat die Regierung Jamaikas gedacht - können wir auch freiwillig daraus austreten. Vielleicht ist das auch so , doch das Wichtigste bei dieser Sache ist , daß es ein falsches Signal ist
