Perhaps they thought it was just another letter about the European Parliament's procedures. Whatever it was , it went straight into the wastepaper basket and no reply was sent back to Brussels. Could the Commissioner say how many third countries never replied to that note verbale . And could he say how many countries replied that they did not want these wastes.I can understand the Commission when it says that perhaps countries said they did not want these wastes but they did not realize what they were saying
Vielleicht dachten sie , daß es einfach um ein weiteres Schreiben über die Verfahren im Europäischen Parlament handelte. Wie auch immer , es landete direkt im Papierkorb , und Brüssel erhielt keine Antwort. Kann der Herr Kommissar Auskunft darüber geben , wie viele Drittländer auf diese Verbalnote niemals geantwortet haben. Und kann er uns auch sagen , wie viele Länder in ihrer Antwort darauf hingewiesen haben , daß sie diese Abfälle nicht wollen.Ich kann die Kommission verstehen , wenn sie sagt , daß vielleicht Länder diese Abfälle abgelehnt haben , obwohl sie gar nicht wußten , was damit gemeint war

Ein halbes Jahr nach dem französischen und niederländischen „Nein“ erleben wir , wie das Europäische Parlament diesen demokratisch zum Ausdruck gebrachten Mehrheitswillen schlichtweg in den Papierkorb wandern lässt. Offensichtlich muss die Verfassung partout , unter allen Umständen , im Laufe des Jahres 2009 in Kraft treten. Ironischerweise wird in dem Bericht die Notwendigkeit einer europäischen Verfassung unter anderem damit begründet , dass es nicht möglich ist , die Union nach dem Beitritt von Bulgarien und Rumänien auf der Grundlage des Vertrags von Nizza erneut zu erweitern
