My response to Barcelona is one of relief that the hype about liberalisation and privatisation was in fact just hype , that the balance of political power on the Council still remains with the centre - left , with the common sense to know that the people of Europe want a social Europe as well as a market Europe , and that the balance between social policy and economic policy , of employment policy and sustainability needs to be maintained
Meine Reaktion auf Barcelona ist ein Gefühl der Erleichterung darüber , dass der Rummel um Liberalisierung und Privatisierung verflogen ist , dass das Gleichgewicht der politischen Kräfte im Rat weiterhin im Mitte - Rechts - Spektrum liegt , dem bewusst ist , dass die Menschen in Europa ein soziales und gleichzeitig marktwirtschaftliches Europa wollen , und dass das Gleichgewicht zwischen Sozialpolitik und Wirtschaftspolitik sowie zwischen Beschäftigungspolitik und Nachhaltigkeit aufrechterhalten werden muss
