As regards the location of the Authority , I would stress once again that it is appropriate to locate it in an agricultural area with strong traditions , which is also a crossroads between Mediterranean and Continental Europe , which has a great and established agri - food tradition , and is the seat of a university and a centre of specialised agri - food research. We consider it out of the question , however , for the location of the Authority to become an object of barter between the Commission and any government , an affront to the citizens and to good sense.Certain that , despite the delay , the report maps out the road to travel , I am voting for the resolution
In Bezug auf den Sitz der Behörde möchte ich nochmals hervorheben , dass sie möglichst in einem traditionellen Agrargebiet angesiedelt sein sollte , wo der Mittelmeerraum und der übrige Kontinent einander begegnen ; ein Gebiet , das eine lange und gefestigte Tradition in der Landwirtschaft und Nahrungsmittelerzeugung besitzt und Standort von auf diesen Bereich spezialisierten Hochschulen und Forschungszentren ist. Andererseits halten wir es für unannehmbar , die Entscheidung über den Sitz der Behörde zum Gegenstand eines Tauschhandels zwischen der Kommission und irgendwelchen Regierungen zu machen , was den Bürgern schadet und der Vernunft widerspricht.In der Gewissheit , dass der in dem Bericht aufgezeigte Weg trotz aller Verzögerungen richtig ist , stimme ich für den Entschließungsantrag
Mr President , ladies and gentlemen , Mrs Thors excellent report tackles with determination an extremely new and complex field in which the traditional psychology of the consumer plays a significant role. The current market economy is still largely based on the consumer's physical assessment of the materiality of the currency and the quality of the retailer. This assessment also determines to a large extent the consumer's confidence , with attitudes which , in addition , are quite different throughout the European Union.Indeed , we are currently undergoing a revolution which is vastly upsetting our traditional attitudes. It is a revolution of a size similar to that which , in the past , saw the introduction of physical currency and the substitution of the barter economy with the market economy
