The journalists’ Inter - Regional Press Institute , for example , tried to , and then ended up somehow doing it under French law , because its chairman lived in France , while other associations have had recourse to Luxembourg or German law ; that is not an appropriate way of going about things. This is an area in which you should be doing more , perhaps by coming up with a more modern proposal

The transnational lists will , on the other hand , turn Europe into one vast constituency , which will in turn distance the Members of the European Parliament , definitively placing them in higher spheres , far away from the voters.But perhaps transnational lists mean that in individual regions , such as the Saar - Lor - Lux region , cross - border lists could be made up for the European elections : such an idea per se would not be inappropriate for the promotion of European thinking. If this is the intention of the report , it should at least indicate so.In addition , it is not clear how such lists would be created , nor in particular how countries with very few Members , such as Luxembourg , would be served by this.The more I think about it , the more this transnational list appears to me to be a type of political gadget , that stands in direct contrast to the objective that I myself am pursuing in European politics , in other words , keeping European politicians in touch with the citizens , participation of the citizens in the political discussion in Europe and the visibility of the European politics for the citizens
Aber vielleicht ist mit den transnationalen Listen gemeint , daß man in einzelnen Regionen , wie z.B. der Saar - Lor - Lux - Region , grenzübergreifende Listen für die Europawahlen aufstellen könnte : an sich wäre eine solche Idee für die Förderung des Europagedankens nicht abwegig. Sollte dies die Absicht des Berichts sein , müßte er es wenigstens andeuten.Es ist auch nicht klar , wie solche Listen zustandekämen , und besonders nicht , wie denn Länder wie Luxemburg mit sehr geringer Abgeordnetenzahl dabei bedient würden.Je mehr ich darüber nachdenke , erscheint mir diese transnationale Liste immer mehr als eine Art Politik - Gadget , die in direktem Gegensatz zu dem Ziel steht , das ich selbst in der europäischen Politik verfolge , nämlich Bürgernähe des EuroPolitikers , Beteiligung der Bürger an der politischen Diskussion in Europa , Sichtbarkeit der Europapolitik der Bürger
