| Finally , the fourth action under environment relates to the city of tomorrow and cultural heritage.Madam Commissioner , as has often been stated in this House , cathedrals , tapestries and great palaces are all part of Europe. They represent a great cultural heritage that we must not lose. Substantial investment in resources and technology is needed if we are to conserve it well , not just patch it up. If we take inadequate measures to restore our cultural and historical heritage , we shall gain nothing.This programme is also of great consequence , therefore. The objectives have been well chosen , but unfortunately there are too many of them.As Mr Tannert said referring to his programme , the Commission has used the word priority in a sense I simply cannot grasp. There are no less than 130 priorities in this specific programme | Frau Kommissarin , wie hier schon häufig gesagt wurde : Europa - das sind die Kathedralen , Europa - das sind die Gemälde , Europa - das sind die großen Paläste , das großartige kulturelle Erbe , das wir auf keinen Fall verlieren dürfen und das viel Technologie erfordert , nicht nur Ressourcen zur Konservierung , sondern zur guten Konservierung. Wenn wir unser kunsthistorisches Erbe schlecht restaurieren , haben wir keine gute Arbeit geleistet.Deshalb ist dies ebenfalls ein bedeutsames Programm. Die Ziele sind sehr gut ausgewählt , nur gibt es leider zu viele Prioritäten.Wie Herr Tannert sagte , als er über sein Programm sprach , hat die Kommission das Wort Priorität in einem Sinne verwendet , den ich nicht verstehen kann. Denn dieses spezifische Programm enthält 130 Prioritäten. Deshalb muß ich Ihnen sagen , Frau Kommissarin , die Ziele sind sehr gut , aber die Prioritäten scheinen mir zu zahlreich zu sein , wenn wir denn alle unter Priorität dasselbe verstehen : etwas , das hervorgehoben und an erster Stelle behandelt werden muß |
