| Mr President , enlargement of the European Union to take in the countries of central and eastern Europe is a logical development along the orad to European Parliament construction. But this enlargement cannot be underestimated. Its significance is particularly relevant for agriculture , whose weight in the economy and society is three or more times greater than the European Union average and whose prices are far lower than those practised ion the European Union making them highly competitive | Herr Präsident , die Erweiterung der Europäischen Union auf die MOEL stellt eine logische Entwiclung auf dem Weg zum Bau Europas dar. Aber diese Erweiterung darf nicht unterschätzt werden. Sie ist von besonderer Bedeutung gerade für die Landwirtschaft , deren Gewicht für die Wirtschaft und die Gesellschaft drei - bis viermal höher ist als im europäischen Mittel , wobei die Preise wesentlich unter denen in der Europäischen Union liegen , was sie höchst wettbewerbsfähig macht |
