Und besonders sollten wir uns vor Augen halten , welche Zerstörungen wir den kommenden Generationen hinterlassen. Es darf also nicht so aufgefaßt werden , als ob ein Land die Aufnahme von Abfällen zur Deponierung bzw. Verwertung akzeptiert , nur weil es auf das Schreiben der Kommission nicht geantwortet hat - das muß ohne Wenn und Aber klar sein. Und genau darum geht es im Änderungsantrag von Herrn Virgin , der sicherlich gebilligt werden wird , da es wirklich nicht hinnehmbar ist , daß sich die Kommission das Recht anmaßt , die Tatsache , daß ein Land nicht antwortet , zu ihrem Vorteil auszulegen.Die Widerstandskraft der Umwelt ist durch die industriellen Aktivitäten sowohl der entwickelten Welt als auch der Länder Mittel - und Osteuropas drastisch geschwächt worden. Erst vor kurzem hat der große Forscher und Umweltwissenschaftler Jacques Cousteau , dem die Menschheit soviel verdankt , diesen Hilferuf ausgestoßen , als er aus dem Leben schied.
