Let me mention some of the principles which I regard as crucial for the future. Firstly , in my policy I am building on the alliance between the consumer and the farmer. Secondly , I think we must all recognize that quality is more important than quantity. Thirdly , protecting health and the environment must be our constant concern. What do I mean by that. Today , the consumer has a right to expect that , from the barn or the field to the table , continuous checks and quality assurance are guaranteed
