| Mr President , ladies and gentlemen , it was essential that the European Union define a forestry strategy in order to improve the use and management of forestry resources. All types of forest are represented in Europe , from taiga to the tropical forests of Guyana , and we must ensure their continued existence by preserving the biodiversity of these very fragile ecosystems | Herr Präsident , liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen. Die Europäische Union mußte eine Forststrategie definieren , um die Nutzung und Bewirtschaftung der Waldressourcen zu verbessern. In Europa sind alle Waldtypen vertreten , von der Taiga bis hin zu den tropischen Regenwäldern Guayanas , und wir müssen ihren Bestand sichern , indem wir die biologische Vielfalt dieser sehr empfindlichen Ökosysteme erhalten |
