You know that the elderly , pensioners , have a lot of free time available and many of them use it for the benefit of their neighbours , for the benefit of other citizens , both in Europe and elsewhere. I am delighted that the Commission is being called upon to add the Seniors in Action Programme to the Youth in Action Programme , as I have been saying in the Chambers of this Parliament for many years , so I am delighted to say that finally much good is being done for the voluntary and seniors sector in the European Parliament
Sie wissen , dass den älteren Menschen , d. h. den Rentnern , viel Freizeit zur Verfügung steht , und viele von ihnen nutzen sie zum Wohle ihres Nächsten , zum Wohle der anderen Bürger in Europa und auch außerhalb. Ich freue mich sehr über die Forderung an die Kommission , neben dem Programm Jugend in Aktion auch ein Programm Senioren in Aktion zu entwickeln , wie ich es seit etlichen Jahren in den Plenarsitzungen dieses Parlaments gefordert hatte. Deshalb bin ich froh , endlich sagen zu können , dass im Europäischen Parlament viel Gutes in diesem Bereich der Freiwilligenarbeit und der Senioren getan wird
The senior citizens of northern Europe , not to mention the executives of the Paris region , come and make their homes in Languedoc - Roussillon , in Provence and throughout the south of France. What is more , the Dutch , English , Belgian and northern active European seniors will become truly aged citizens and demand extensive health care infrastructures in our region.To conclude , the overhaul of the Structural Funds must anticipate this territorial justice : if populations are transferred from north to south , the funding must be transferred as well , otherwise we will become the Palestinians of Europe , seeing colonies of senior citizens from Northern Europe settled among us. We do not want to be a permanently devastated West Bank in the South of France. It is no longer the time for words but for action , with the necessary resources , even if the scale of them should be exceptional
Da wird das Land zugebaut und der Boden versiegelt , 150 000 Hektar Weinbauflächen stehen unter Wasser. Und da liegen kurz gesagt die Ursachen für die Überschwemmungen. Hinzu kommt , dass die älteren Niederländer , Engländer , Belgier , Nordeuropäer eines Tages hochbetagt sein werden und bei uns sehr teure Gesundheitseinrichtungen brauchen werden.Abschließend sei gesagt , dass die Umgestaltung der Strukturfonds im Vorfeld für diesen territorialen Ausgleich sorgen muss : Sobald man Bevölkerungsgruppen von Nord nach Süd verpflanzt , muss man auch die Finanzierung verpflanzen , sonst würden wir zu den Palästinensern Europas , die zusehen müssen , wie bei uns Siedlungen älterer Menschen aus Nordeuropa angelegt werden. Wir wollen nicht die immer wieder verwüstete Westbank in Südfrankreich sein. Ich hoffe und wünsche , dass wir künftig keine Debatten mehr über Naturkatastrophen führen müssen
