In most cases those will be settlers who arrive later.In 1947 there were about 10 , 000 settlers there who had not originated directly from the Chittagong Hills Tracts. In 1977 there were about 100 , 000 , and today the number already runs into seven figures. It is clear from this that a huge policy is being pursued in this direction , such that we actually have to say that it conflicts with basic human rights and that we as the European Parliament , which invests a great deal in Bangladesh , have got to make a clear statement in support of the Jumma people s rights

Der zweite Pferdefuß hängt ganz klar mit der Heuchelei eben dieser Welthandelsorganisation zusammen , deren Praxis im Grunde auf eine Verhandlung zwischen Wolf und Lamm hinausläuft. Seit nämlich die Finanzwelt in den letzten 20 Jahren die Kontrolle über die Wirtschaft übernommen hat , ist der Welthandel vor allem ein Vorwand für die ständige und immer weitere Ausdehnung der Finanzspekulation , sodass selbst diese Verhandlungen eher einem großen Gewinnspiel zugunsten der Veranstalter von Gewinnspielen ähneln. Die Bürgerbewegungen haben die politischen Führer zum Nachdenken gebracht , die Staaten des Südens gewinnen , mit willkommener Unterstützung vonseiten der Kommission , zunehmend an Einfluss , und bald werden die Zeiten vorbei sein , in denen Carla Hills die Märkte mit der Brechstange für ihr Land öffnen wollte
This essentially means that there will be no physical costs of actually exchanging currencies , notes and coins , for other currencies. All that will need to change is what happens anyway with banking institutions : an extra currency needs to be added to the list of currencies that the banking system deals with. At the same time eleven currencies will be wiped out so I would guess that actually simplifies matters.I therefore ask what cost. The costs will be significant after the notes and coins are introduced , not before. SMEs will have costs but there is a level playing field across the European Union. Therefore I do not see any competitive disadvantage as far as any companies are concerned because all companies will have to make the same changes.For tourism it is extremely important that the euro is introduced. I say that coming from a constituency which is very dependent on tourism. My constituency stretches from the Blackpool coast through the Ribble Valley into the Pendle Hills. With tourism now accounting for something like 20 % of economic activity across the European Union , either directly or indirectly , it is important that the euro is introduced and that those areas which rely on tourism for their prosperity take advantage of it
Januar 1999 nur in elektronischer Form existieren. Dies bedeutet , daß für den Geldwechsel , den Umtausch von Banknoten und Münzen , keine unmittelbaren Kosten entstehen werden. Die erforderlichen Veränderungen sind in den Bankinstituten sowieso an der Tagesordnung : Eine weitere Währung wird zur Liste der Wechselkurse der Bank hinzugefügt. Gleichzeitig werden aber 11 Währungen gelöscht , und ich denke , daß dies die Angelegenheit eher vereinfacht.Darum frage ich : welche Kosten. Kosten fallen erst ins Gewicht , wenn die Banknoten und Münzen eingeführt werden und nicht vorher. Für die KMU werden Kosten entstehen , aber dies wird gleichmäßig in ganz Europa geschehen. Deswegen sehe ich keinerlei Wettbewerbsnachteile für Unternehmen , da alle Firmen die gleichen Umstellungen vornehmen müssen.Für den Tourismus spielt die Einführung des Euro eine besonders große Rolle. Ich komme aus einem Wahlkreis , der in hohem Maße vom Tourismus abhängig ist. Mein Wahlkreis erstreckt sich von der Küste Blackpools über das Ribble Valley bis in die Pendle Hills. Da der Tourismus heute direkt oder indirekt etwa 20 % der wirtschaftlichen Aktivitäten in der Europäischen Union ausmacht , ist die Einführung des Euro äußerst wichtig. Die Gebiete , deren Wohlstand vom Tourismus abhängt , müssen vom Euro profitieren können
