Mr President , if the recent history of Cambodia had not been so terribly tragic , you could be tempted to say that its political life has truly reached the heights of exoticism
Herr Präsident , wenn die jüngste Geschichte Kambodschas nicht so schrecklich tragisch verlaufen wäre , so wäre man versucht , zu sagen , daß das politische Leben dieses Landes wirklich den höchsten Grad von Exotik erreicht hat
Hu Jintao has become the new President , the Secretary General of the Chinese Communist Party. The result of the so - called dialogue that was undertaken is these two death sentences : those of Tenzin Delek and Lobsang Dhondup.Obviously , Mrs Gebhardt , there could be better signs emerging from this dialogue. Having said that , I think that above all we should question ourselves , as members of the European Parliament and as Europeans , on how we are supporting the Tibetan people. I think that we should seriously ask that question. There is a risk of exoticism , and a risk that the peaceful struggle of our Tibetan friends will not be capable of achieving the objective of freeing Tibet. This is an objective for the Tibetans , but also for all free men and women across the world
Inzwischen vollzog sich eine kleine Veränderung in der Volksrepublik China. Hu Jintao wurde zum neuen Generalsekretär der Kommunistischen Partei Chinas. Die Fortsetzung des eingeleiteten so genannten Dialogs sind nun diese beiden Todesurteile gegen Tenzin Delek und Lobsang Dhondup.Unter einem Zeichen für den Dialog , Frau Gebhardt , stelle ich mir etwas anderes vor. Allerdings sollten wir als Mitglieder des Europäischen Parlaments und als Europäer uns fragen , wie wir dem tibetischen Volk helfen können. Meiner Meinung nach sollten wir uns diese Frage ganz ernsthaft stellen. Es besteht die Gefahr des Exotismus , ebenso wie die Gefahr besteht , dass der friedliche Kampf unserer tibetischen Freunde dem Ziel der Befreiung Tibets nicht gerecht wird. Ein Ziel der Tibeter , aber auch ein Ziel aller freien Männer und Frauen in der Welt
