The main focus of this resolution is to nudge the international community forward , to ensure that Burma is put on the UN Security Council agenda as soon as possible

As a Member of this Parliament , as joint leader of the UPE and as a European citizen , I sincerely wish the British Presidency the will and the wisdom to give a strong impetus , more than just a nudge , to Union policy thanks precisely to the proverbial Anglo - Saxon pragmatism , now that Albion seems to have converted from initial Euroscepticism to become a convinced and loyal Europhile
Mein ehrlicher Wunsch als Abgeordneter dieses Parlaments , als stellvertretender Vorsitzender der UPE - Fraktion und als europäischer Bürger an die britische Präsidentschaft ist , daß sie bei der Unionspolitik nicht nur eine Kurskorrektur , sondern eine Kehrtwende vornehmen kann und wird und dies dank dem sprichwörtlichen angelsächsischen Pragmatismus jetzt , da sich Albion , wie mir scheint , von der anfänglichen Skepsis gegenüber Europa auf ein überzeugtes und loyales Ja zu Europa besonnen hat
It would be unfortunate to lock ourselves into negotiating positions now. There is too much technical and preparatory work to be done before that. As I said earlier , we will keep Parliament informed of our progress.Mr President , perhaps you could supply me with the document that would provide us with a basis in law for ascertaining that Parliament has to nudge the Commission in the right direction
Es wäre bedauerlich , wenn wir nun Verhandlungspositionen einnehmen würden. Zuvor muss noch so viel technische und vorbereitende Arbeit erledigt werden.
